The MonaLisa Touch® helps restore your vaginal health…. Let’s talk about it.

MonaLisaTouchWhen estrogen levels decline after menopause, many changes occur. Millions of women experience symptoms such as vaginal dryness, itching, burning or painful intercourse as a consequence of these changes. Many women suffer silently, and those who seek treatment find their options limited: messy estrogen creams or hormone replacement therapy, which isn’t for everyone.

Now there is a better way and Associates in Gynecology, Ltd. is excited to offer you this quick, safe, painless, hormone-free procedure in the comfort of our office.

The MonaLisa Touch is a CO2 laser approved by the FDA in 2008 as a safe and effective treatment for relieving the genital symptoms of menopause. It has been clinically tested and found to be effective, with many patients claiming relief after just the first treatment. The MonaLisa Touch delivers gentle laser energy to the vaginal wall that stimulates collagen growth and blood flow to promote vaginal rehydration and functionality of the treated area.

Candidates for the MonaLisa Touch vaginal laser treatment include the following:

  • Women who wish to avoid the risks associated with hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
  • Genital symptoms of menopause or vaginal atrophy, vaginal dryness – usually menopausal
  • Dyspareunia (painful intercourse)
  • A history of breast cancer, thrombophlebitis, or other contraindications to estrogen
  • Poor responders to estrogen treatment
  • Patients with the goal of returning to premenopausal health

Frequently Asked Questions:

What happens during treatment?

The procedure will seem similar to your annual exam. Your physician will insert the laser tip into your vagina and deliver laser energy “pulses.” The total procedure time is about 5 minutes.

Does it hurt?

The laser energy itself is painless. Some patients report mild discomfort with the laser tip insertion during the first procedure due to vaginal dryness. A mild numbing cream will be applied to the vulva area to prevent discomfort.

How soon can I expect results?

Many patients have reported that they experience relief right away. Virtually all patients have experienced relief by the second treatment, or week 6.

How long does treatment last?

MonaLisa Touch provides long-lasting results. A once-a-year single treatment is recommended to maintain symptom relief.

How much does the treatment cost?

The cost of the initial 3 treatments is $1800. Each annual treatment thereafter is $500.

Are the treatments covered by my insurance?

No. However, if you have flexible spending dollars they can be used.
